Aston Martin Valkyrie looks like a "bat chariot"

Aston Martin recently unveiled the official map of its top sports car, the Valkyrie quasi-production model. This high-performance vehicle was developed in collaboration with the Red Bull F1 Racing Team and is set to begin production at the end of 2018, with only 150 units planned. These cars will be delivered to customers starting in 2019. The Valkyrie quasi-production version incorporates more mass production elements compared to the earlier AM-RB 001 prototype, with 95% of the design already finalized for full-scale manufacturing. The new car retains the aerodynamic principles of the AM-RB 001 but features a redesigned front bumper that resembles an F1 race car. The absence of a traditional front bumper gives a clean look, allowing visibility of the suspension system. It also includes lightweight headlamps and wipers, while replacing traditional side mirrors with cameras that display images on LCD screens located on both sides of the A-pillar. From the side, the Valkyrie closely resembles current hypercar designs, yet its semi-open front and rear wheel arches, along with intricate side lines, add a more complex aesthetic. Aston Martin has not yet revealed the specific aerodynamic benefits of these details, but one notable feature is the rare gull-wing doors, which enhance both style and practicality. At the rear, the Valkyrie lacks a conventional bumper, with a massive diffuser extending beyond the body. To optimize airflow underneath the car, the exhaust system is positioned at the back, paired with a rear spoiler and updated taillights. This configuration gives the vehicle a striking, almost futuristic appearance. Inside, the Valkyrie follows a minimalist and ergonomic approach. The carbon-fiber monocoque allows for an unmodified interior, showcasing the raw beauty of the exposed carbon fiber. Most controls are integrated into a rectangular, detachable steering wheel, which houses an OLED display providing all necessary vehicle information and functions. Aston Martin claims the interior can comfortably accommodate two adults. The carbon-fiber seats are nearly fused with the chassis, offering a fixed, race-inspired driving position that can be customized to fit individual drivers. This setup ensures maximum performance and driver engagement. Under the hood, the Valkyrie uses a hybrid powertrain, combining a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine producing over 912 horsepower with a new kinetic energy recovery system that boosts total output to 1,146 horsepower. The powertrain is matched with a 7-speed transmission, ensuring seamless performance and responsiveness.
