Mastering flexible OLED technology to bring new products to IFA2017
From September 1st to 6th, 2017, the Berlin International Furniture and Electronics Fair (IFA) took place in Berlin, Germany. China's major home appliance manufacturer, Skyworth, was a key participant, showcasing its latest innovations including a 77-inch discrete OLED TV, a 100-inch Android TV, and a series of Android-powered TVs. They also introduced their cutting-edge products like refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines.
One of the most impressive displays was the 77-inch discrete OLED TV. This model, named "S9E," was showcased in a striking black display area. The moment visitors entered the booth, these TVs caught everyone's attention with their sleek design. The S9E features a split-body design with an ultra-thin OLED screen that’s only 3.65mm thick, attached to a tempered glass backplane for optimal imaging. The lower section houses the Smart Bar, which integrates the circuit board, various chips, and stereo systems. This bar can be rotated vertically at 180 degrees or folded at 90 degrees to fit different home setups.
The OLED screen delivers exceptional picture quality with Dolby Vision HDR technology. OLED screens offer superior color accuracy without relying on backlighting, ensuring superior contrast, viewing angles, and motion handling compared to LCDs. Additionally, the reduced harmful blue light emission makes it easier on the eyes. The S9E comes with JBL-built-in TV audio, delivering balanced sound across all frequencies with a rich, immersive experience. It supports Dolby/DTS dual decoding, offering cinematic sound quality.
Another highlight was Skyworth’s 5.2-inch flexible AMOLED display, marking a significant breakthrough for the company. This prototype, developed by Skyworth Investment's Guangzhou New Vision Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., weighs less than 1 gram and can display images and videos in curved or folded configurations. This innovation signifies Skyworth's mastery of flexible AMOLED technology, pushing boundaries in display innovation.
Skyworth also unveiled its 100-inch Android TV, a collaboration with Google. Equipped with an Android-native intelligent system, this TV allows users to search for content via voice commands and enjoy a vast library of apps. It supports features like Chrome Cast, allowing seamless content sharing from mobile devices to the TV. The TV boasts a 4K resolution LCD screen with advanced technologies like Dolby Vision and MEMC anti-shake tech, making it a premium choice for home entertainment.
In addition to these products, Skyworth showcased refrigerators like the SRM-410CB with multi-touch screens and smart controls, and innovative appliances like the Smart Ice Bar, which combines fridge functionality with a coffee table. Their air conditioning lineup included models with advanced purification systems and smart connectivity.
