Global leader in listing! Sharp's first 8K TV live evaluation

On August 31, 2017, Sharp officially unveiled the world's first 8K TV in Shanghai. Simultaneously, it was launched in Berlin, Germany, at the IFA exhibition, as well as in Tokyo and Taipei. This move highlights Sharp's dedication to 8K TVs and the broader 8K ecosystem. Recently, Sharp has been generating significant buzz around its 8K TVs, creating quite a stir within the industry. Naturally, attendees were eager to get hands-on with this new technology, and I was no exception. I had the opportunity to experience Sharp's 8K TV firsthand and am excited to share my insights. While 4K TVs might seem ubiquitous today, the scarcity of 4K content makes Sharp's push for 8K TVs particularly noteworthy. As a high-end brand in the TV industry, Sharp has clearly invested considerable effort into launching 8K TVs. Dr. Chen Zhenguo, Vice President of Foxconn Technology Group, stated that Sharp aims to transition from being the "father of LCD" to becoming the "father of 8K ecology." This ambitious goal reflects Sharp's commitment to innovation. In order to enhance our visual experience with Sharp's 8K TVs, they introduced the concept of "8K ecological applications, eight smart life," covering work, education, entertainment, family networking, environmental protection, vehicle transactions, procurement, health, and safety. By addressing these eight dimensions, Sharp hopes to create a comprehensive ecosystem that truly benefits users. Let's delve into the specifics of Sharp's groundbreaking 8K TV. ● Initial Experience with Sharp 8K TV The model of Sharp's world-first 8K TV is the LCD-70SX970A. Those familiar with TV models will recognize this as a 70-inch 8K TV. According to Dr. Chen Zhenguo, Sharp's 8K TV is positioned as the flagship of the 9 series, the highest-end model among the 14 models in the second half of the year. It represents the pinnacle of Sharp's current lineup. Sharp LCD-70SX970A boasts an impressive design. Its 70-inch 8K LCD panel is flanked by large multi-channel speakers, delivering outstanding audio and video specifications that match its imposing design. What's intriguing is the delicate base design, which contrasts sharply with the massive screen, giving the TV a unique aesthetic appeal. This product supports various HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and BDA HDR, ensuring better compatibility than most TVs. With its newly designed direct local dimming technology, scenes are rendered with stunning picture quality. ● Industrial Design: A Bold Contradiction The industrial design of Sharp's 8K TV is remarkable. Every detail reflects careful consideration, particularly the classic base design. The true resolution of an 8K TV is 7680×4320 pixels, offering unparalleled clarity that surpasses 4K TVs. When viewed up close, the sharpness of the images is simply breathtaking. This product features several HDR formats and supports Dolby Vision and BDA HDR, with superior compatibility compared to most TVs. The newly developed direct local dimming technology ensures stunning picture quality in every scene. The border of this TV uses Japanese-made LCD panels, featuring a wide color gamut thanks to QD technology. Unlike Samsung's QLED, which doesn't rely on quantum dots, Sharp's LCD-70SX970A uses exclusive color technology, achieving a color gamut coverage of an impressive 103%. ● Speaker Details: Powerful Audio Accompaniment For a TV with 8K resolution, the accompanying sound quality must also be exceptional. The Sharp LCD-70SX970A incorporates a hollow design between the frame and side speakers, creating a sense of independence and enhancing the three-dimensional audio effect. The speakers feature rear bass ports and four high-powered speakers, equipped with Yamaha Audio Engine and DTS 2.0 Digital Out (7.1 channel) technology, ensuring that this 8K TV does not fall short in the audio department. Despite the impressive specs, the HDMI 2.0 interface poses some limitations. While HDMI 2.1 has already been released, this model lacks the latest version, which could better support 8K audio and video. To achieve 8K transmission, the product uses four HDMI 2.0 cables. However, this might be due to production constraints, and the official version may address this issue. ● Sharp's Ecosystem Leadership: More Opportunities for 8K Content Although 4K TVs are popular, the scarcity of 4K content remains a challenge. Renting or purchasing 4K cameras is costly, making it unprofitable for content platform vendors. To overcome this, Sharp is actively promoting the construction of an 8K ecosystem, collaborating with platforms like Hunan TV, Zhejiang Satellite TV, iQIYI, and Youku to bring 8K content to end-users. By selling 8K cameras produced by Foxconn OEM at affordable prices or exchanging resources, Sharp aims to create an "ecological partner" system for 8K content. Once this takes off, the quantity of 8K content could skyrocket. The official launch of 8K TVs signifies a new era in the display industry. According to Sharp's vision, 8K TVs will impact not only the entertainment sector but also various aspects of daily life. Based on my on-site experience, Sharp's LCD-70SX970A excels in design, hardware, and picture quality. It is undoubtedly an excellent TV product. Sharp priced the LCD-70SX970A at 68,888 yuan. By August 31, 2017, the Sharp Tmall flagship store had sold 70 units. Hopefully, after reading this article, sales will exceed 100 units. We look forward to the dawn of the 8K era under Sharp's leadership. Ultimately, we hope Sharp fulfills its vision of becoming the father of 8K ecology.
