Advantech and China Unicom to deepen the ecological cooperation of intelligent manufacturing industry - Internet of Things edge computing and platform services
July 19, 2017, Kunshan, Jiangsu - On this day, Advantech, a global leader in intelligent systems (stock code: 2395), collaborated with China Jiangsu Unicom and successfully hosted the R&D center of the Yanhua R&D Center in Kunshan, Jiangsu. The event, titled [Platform Service Partner Summit Forum], brought together industry experts and stakeholders to discuss the development and application of the Industrial Internet of Things.
The conference was centered around the theme of "Investing in Advantech and Exploring the Deployment and Application of the Industrial Internet of Things." It focused on the "Intelligent Manufacturing" sector and featured a lineup of prominent speakers, including Xu Jiehong, General Manager of China's IoT Embedded Platform Business Group, Ren Guangyu, Deputy Director of the Emergency Center of Jiangsu Province, Liu Xiangsheng, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Internet Association, Wang Yanhong, General Manager of China Unicom’s Intelligent Manufacturing Product Incubation Base, and Xu Weibin, Deputy General Manager of Suzhou Unicom. Executives from organizations like China Unicom Intelligent Manufacturing Product Incubation Base, Advantech, Microsoft, Shandong Huatian, and Tianzhi (Suzhou) Intelligent Systems Co., Ltd., were present and delivered keynote speeches. Xu Jiehong, General Manager of China's IoT Embedded Platform Business Group, emphasized that embedded computing is evolving in the IoT era, shifting from traditional business models to IoT-centric sales concepts. He highlighted Advantech's commitment to fostering innovation while leveraging its ARM and wireless sensing platform services, IoTPaaS and software services, IoT Edge Intelligence Server (EIS), and industry-specific software and hardware integration solutions. He called for collaboration with China Unicom and other partners to drive mutual growth and support the IoT industry.
Xu Weibin, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom, showcased the company's strengths in IoT during the summit. Various technology giants from the China Unicom Intelligent Manufacturing Product Incubation Base, Microsoft, Shandong Huatian, and Tianzhi Intelligent (Suzhou) focused on cooperative and win-win development. They shared their unique insights and explorations in smart manufacturing, particularly in industrial cloud platform services and edge computing, to explore the path towards intelligent manufacturing and assist enterprises in transitioning to the internet.
The Advantech Smart Factory tour and on-site IoT solution demonstrations were highlights of the conference. Over 100 customers visited the Yanhua Kunshan production base, exploring the achievements and implementation results of intelligent manufacturing solutions in Advantech's Smart Factory. To help simplify the development and deployment of IoT, Advantech organized workshops for smart factories, equipment manufacturing, and smart city smart application projects. These sessions not only presented industry success stories and analyzed key success factors but also demonstrated three critical steps of key technologies: data collection, intelligent applications, and data cloud and analysis. Using the Advantech Edge Intelligence Server (EIS) development kit, participants could complete deployments in under ten minutes, providing a foundation for planning intelligent IoT applications in the future while ensuring IoT connectivity and data management.
Additionally, the event featured an on-site demo display area divided into sections for EIS application displays, WISE-PaaS software experiences, end-to-cloud strategy partner areas, customer case displays, and guest interactions. Advantech aimed to collaborate with global partners to create a dedicated software platform for the IoT industry, WISE-PaaS, integrating hardware and software through innovative services of WISE-PaaS Marketplace and the next-generation Edge Intelligence Server (EIS). This solution assists customers in various vertical industries in rapidly implementing smart applications.
