The annual output value of the project of the Skyworth Smart Industry Innovation Base reached 30 billion yuan
On January 8, Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development Zone, and Skyworth Group Co., Ltd. signed a significant investment framework agreement. Under the deal, Skyworth will invest approximately RMB 7 billion to establish a smart industry innovation base in the new Guangzhou Knowledge City. This facility is expected to produce 30 million smart home appliances annually, along with 1.8 million intelligent systems and terminal products, generating a total output value of around RMB 30 billion.
The signing ceremony took place at the site, where a photo was captured showing the event's atmosphere. Skyworth, a global leader in smart home appliances and a major player in China’s electronics sector, has consistently ranked first in TV sales for years. Its new smart industrial innovation base in Knowledge City will focus on producing core products like 4K smart TVs and smart set-top boxes. With this development, it's anticipated that a major smart home appliance manufacturing hub will emerge in eastern Guangzhou, potentially becoming one of the largest and most advanced in China.
Several high-ranking officials from both the government and Skyworth attended the event, including Mr. Zhou Yawei, Mr. Chen Xiaohua, Mr. Lai Weide, and other executives from Skyworth, as well as founder Huang Hongsheng. This collaboration marks a decade of partnership between Skyworth and the region, with the company having made three major investments over the years: a flat-panel TV production base in 2007, a joint project with LG Display in 2010, and the establishment of a South China headquarters and R&D center in 2017.
With the recent approval of LG's OLED plant in Guangzhou, Skyworth aims to strengthen its position in the smart ecosystem by expanding its supply chain and enhancing its product offerings. The new industrial bases are designed to support Skyworth's strategic goals of becoming more intelligent, refined, and globally oriented.
Skyworth’s “13th Five-Year Plan†includes increasing smart TV output to 30 million units and set-top box output to 40 million units by 2020. The company is also focusing on smart appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners, aiming to boost their production significantly. These efforts align with the broader vision of the Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development Zone, which is to integrate information technology with manufacturing and promote intelligent, green, and service-oriented growth.
The new smart industry innovation base in Knowledge City will not only produce smart TVs and set-top boxes but also automotive intelligent systems and virtual reality terminals. Skyworth continues to innovate, with AI playing a central role in its smart TVs. For example, the W9 model features an AI assistant called Samantha, which uses deep learning and natural language processing to enhance user experience.
With over 26 million active users and strong growth in digital set-top box sales, Skyworth is well-positioned to lead the next wave of smart home innovation. As it expands into new areas like automotive tech and VR, the company is building a comprehensive smart product ecosystem, reinforcing its status as a key player in the global smart home market.
