The power of big data truly turned into a miracle this year. The total transaction volume reached an astonishing 168.2 billion yuan, with 90% of it coming from mobile devices. There were 148 million Alipay transactions—equivalent to every person in China making a payment yesterday. The system handled up to 256,000 operations per second, a 2.1-fold increase compared to last year, setting a new global record.
With 15 million different products available, if all of them were displayed in a physical store, the space would be equivalent to 323 Shanghai Centers, or 10 Mount Everests high.
And then there were 812 million express deliveries. If you were to stack them all, it would be like traveling from Earth to the Moon. On average, each package traveled 300 kilometers, which is equal to circling the Earth 5 million times. The total weight of these packages exceeded 2 billion kilograms.
