FCI adds active fiber optic cable assembly solutions for micro SAS HD products
FCI is expanding its active optical cable (AOC) product line with the introduction of a miniature SAS HD-based AOC component. This new addition supports high-speed data transfer and enhances connectivity solutions for modern systems. The miniature SAS HD products from FCI are fully compliant with the SFF-8644 standard, ensuring compatibility and reliability across various applications. They meet the signal integrity requirements of both SAS 2.1 (6G) and SAS 3.0 (12G) protocols, making them ideal for demanding environments.
The cable features a compact design with a 2.9 mm diameter spiral structure, allowing for flexible and easy installation in any direction. It also includes a protective cover that accommodates cable exits at the back of the connector or at right angles, providing additional durability and ease of use.
"By introducing this miniature SAS HD active optical cable, FCI reinforces its commitment to high-speed I/O solutions," says Jim David, director of FCI's high-speed I/O product line. "This AOC component enables us to offer a complete and fully qualified miniature SAS HD product line, supporting all internal and external board-end connectors required by industry standards. Whether using fiber optic or copper cables, our assemblies are designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s data centers and storage systems."
Additionally, the mini-SAS HD board connector is equipped with enhanced heat sinks to ensure optimal thermal management for active optical cables in different system configurations. The cable is available in lengths ranging from 5 to 100 meters, offering flexibility for a wide range of deployment scenarios. This latest innovation highlights FCI's dedication to delivering advanced, reliable, and scalable connectivity solutions for high-performance computing and storage environments.
