LCD mobile power supply design based on CSU8RP3429

Today, the number of mobile power supplies is exploding, and the variety of products on the market has made consumers dizzying. However, according to statistics, the rough electricity metering method adopted by more than 80% of the products on the market is highly homogenized. In order to enable consumers to have a better user experience, they can grasp the situation of mobile power charging and discharging in real time, and bring a multi-quality and cost-effective LCD mobile power supply.

The CSU8RP3429 uses two high-speed PWM (32MHz) and five high-performance ADCs (12bit, deadband less than 3mV, internal reference voltage accuracy of 1% corrected by the unique reference source digital correction technology) and LCD driver. The IO port has a large current drive function, which can realize a synchronous rectified mobile power source with an efficiency of up to 90% without external peripheral ICs and without adding a drive circuit. Under the 2.1A output condition, the efficiency is still higher than 85%.

2.1 PWM control charging management (no need to charge management chip)

CSU8RP3429 through the PWM controlled Bulk DC-DC circuit, can flexibly control the current and voltage of the three stages of precharging, constant current charging and constant voltage charging to meet the charging requirements of different types of batteries with different capacities.

2.2 PWM control discharge management (synchronous rectification can be realized without peripheral DC-DC chip)

Using the high-speed PWM clock of the CSU8RP3429 and the high-current driving function of the I/O port, the Boost DC-DC can realize synchronous rectification with a discharge efficiency of up to 90%. Under the condition that the discharge current reaches 2.1A, the efficiency can still exceed 85. %.

2.3 Calibrate the internal 2.0V reference source with digital correction technology (eliminate external LDO chip)

The built-in 2.0V reference voltage of the CSU8RP3429 has a corrected error of less than 1%.

2.4. Mobile power battery security

The CSU8RP3429 provides a near-hardware level protection mechanism for short-circuit and over-current of the battery. When the external power supply is short-circuited, the chip can close the output path in time. CSU8RP3429 does not require an external voltage divider resistor, which can directly obtain the battery voltage value, effectively preventing the battery from being overcharged and avoiding false detection due to external circuit failure. In addition, the chip detects the feedback mechanism of the loop in multiple links, thus ensuring that the system operates under closed loop and safe conditions.

2.5 Safety of charged devices

Poor USB contact can cause voltage overshoot and damage the device being charged. CSU8RP3429 comes with VDD high voltage detection function, which can control overshoot voltage in time: under 1A condition, overshoot voltage is less than 6.0V, duration is less than 200us, under 2A condition, overshoot voltage is less than 6.3V, duration is less than 200us, strong protection The safety of the device being charged.

Third, the chip comes with LCD driver application

The CSU8RP3429 chip comes with an LCD driver. When the IO port drives the LCD, you can select the LCD enable in the programming option to perform convenient LCD control—output current display, power display percentage, and so on.
