One of the biggest features of the Snapdragon 835 is the Samsung 10nm FinFET manufacturing process. The Snapdragon 820 released last year is based on the Samsung 14nm FinFET process. Samsung is the first semiconductor company to introduce a 14nm process chip in the industry, and has taken the lead in competitors such as TSMC. This time, it is inevitable that it will advance to 10nm.

The Samsung 10nm process chip will begin mass production in October this year. Compared to the 14nm process, it will achieve a 27% performance improvement and a 40% reduction in power consumption based on a 30% reduction in chip size. In other words, the new 10nm technology will be able to further improve the endurance while improving the performance of mobile phones.

In addition, Snapdragon 835 also brought Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging standard. Compared with the previous generation QC 3.0 standard, the charging speed is increased by 20% and charging efficiency is increased by 30%. Only 5 minutes of charge is required to provide up to 5 hours of battery life.

Qualcomm said that Xiaolong 835 has already begun production, but the launch of products with this processor will not be available until the first half of next year. Not surprisingly, Samsung S8, LG G6, Xiaomi 6, and other early flagships will use the first batch of products, but it is usual that Samsung should still get the majority of new processors.

It is worth mentioning that Qualcomm did not release the detailed specifications of the processor. However, based on previous exposure information, it will adopt the 8-core design of the self-developed Kryo 200 architecture. The GPU will be upgraded to Adreno 540, with an X16 baseband, LPDDR4X memory, and up to 8GB of memory.

Prior to this, MediaTek and Huawei had launched their new flagship products. Among them, MediaTek Helio X30 adopts TSMC's 10nm technology and its performance is significantly improved compared to X20/25. Huawei Unicorn 960 still uses the 16nm process.
