3D printing of humanoid robots in 300 hours

Recently, the robot company Choitek released a tutorial to create a humanoid robot "ASPIP" using 3D printing . "ASPIP" is made up of parts printed on more than 90 3D printers , which takes about 300 hours and costs about $2,500.

The "ASPIP" robot was designed by Choitek founder John Choi, and its predecessor was a laser cutting robot "Halley" founded by Choi. Choi mentioned, “In the process of displaying the Halley robot, we found that robots similar to humans are very good, because such robots are more human.”

The "ASPIP" robot head looks like a retro TV set, a powerful combination of 3D printed components, combined with open source electronics and drivers.

Choi estimates that the 3D printing time is about 300 hours, and it takes about 5 kg of 3D printing material to complete, which does not include the material cost of printing failure. In addition, to build a complete "ASPIR", you need to use a "large capacity" 3D printer. The manufacturer said that to complete the plan, a 3D printer with a minimum of 250 x 250 x 250 mm build volume is required.

However, there are still many features of this program that are not satisfactory, but the function of the robot will continue to be optimized in the future. Coupled with the fact that this program is open source (OpenSource), there are many possibilities in the future.
